The Ryan Model LA-T "Twin Spirit", which resulted from a publicity stunt initiated by the Los Angeles Times in 1931 when they attempted to get Charles Lindbergh and Amelia Earhart to cross together the Pacific from L.A. to Tokyo.

Though both aviators initially agreed to the project, and although the prototype was flown a few times, it eventually fell apart when Earhart the loner changed her mind and failed to sign the contact with the L.A. Times to set off on another solo flight instead.

  • Oh, such a beautiful aircraft would have been just perfect for Charles and Amelia to marry in the sky... Wonderful alternate history: no war but wedding... (Tophe2)

My comments:

A piece of aviation history I would have loved to see. I think one day I will re-create articles, photos and other stuff around that story to add to the legend! Glad you appreciate it.
