The Nord Aviation 4500 Noralcor was a lengthened, four-wing derivative of the famed Noratlas to transport freight and paratroopers. It featured small jets at the wingtips that could tilt 25% to help with short take-off.

The Nord 4501 variant was for freight only. The 4502 was a in-flight refueling variant. The Nord 4503 was a paratrooper transport version with cranked booms and raised tail.

The Noralcor was reworked from an existing Noratlas general arrangement. I have reproduced only the profile view from it (bottom right) to give you a general idea.

Well... if you say so...  I'd agree on the "funny" bit... not so much on the "elegant" part... but as they say, elegance is in the eye of the whiffer...
