Manufacturer: Avro

Model: 707B

Name: none

Type: Jet fighter

Date: 1954

Status: Operational

Country: United States

Service: U.S. Navy

Designation: F4A-1 Javelin

Synopsis:

The Avro 707B was initially seen by the U.S Navy as a second choice in case the Convair F2Y Sea Dart didn't deliver. As development of the Sea Dart proved lengthy and all plans of a carrier-based Sea Dart fell through, the 707B was procured as the Javelin as an interim jet fighter.

Elaboration:

To re-create this image I took the artwork from the ProResin model of the Avro 707B, flipped it horizontally, removed all markings, changed the fuselage color to U.S. Navy blue, then affixed U.S. markings and an Avro logo at the bottom of the image. Did you notice how I also had to flip the artist's signature horizontally so it would look normal? Wonder if he'd approve of me doing this to his work... and I don't even know his name to credit him here... Hey, if you're out there and read this page, please let me know, okay? ;)
