Synopsis: Elaboration: The Aichi AM-18 was a real aircraft, a reconnaissance floatplane prototype evaluated by the Japanese Navy as the E12A but rejected (see image below right). Eventually the improved AM-19 was accepted, produced and operated with great success as the E13A1 ("Jake"). The AM-18, however, seemed to me a very good, clean design and inspired me to consider what a landplane variant might have looked like. Not a lot of work here, just removing the floats and tail stabilizer, but the result is really a neat-looking plane. Viewers' comments: My comments: |
